This very large bank will take your money from you for any little reason

If you don't mind big corporate banks taking money out of your account for any reason they can come up with, and you don't mind a terrible automated customer service system, use this bank. I have had a checking account with TD Bank for over 30 years, since they bought my small local bank. I was never happy with them but never switched to another checking account; I wish I had. My account required a $1000 minimum balance in order to avoid service charges. It paid very negligible interest. Last year, due to a small miscalculation on my part, my account balance fell to just below $1000. They then began to charge me a $24/mo service fee EVERY MONTH afterward, even though my balance never fell below $1000 again in those months. When I called their (Very Painful) customer service number to get this resolved, they would not return the money. Eventually I decided to close the account, requiring me to move all my auto bill payments (which were quite a few) to a new account I opened with SOFI.. I then went to one of their local banks to close the account; you can't do it online (how 'convenient'). The teller told me several ways to close the account, but it turned out the information she gave me was not correct. After clearing all my auto pay bills, I transferred all funds to my SOFI account. The following month, I found out that the account was still open, and an auto-pay to my old condo HOA was sent out, putting the account in the negative and resulting in a $50 overdraft fee. When I called to resolve this (and once again try to close the account, their systems were down that day and they could not even look up my account. I went to the local branch again, and they also could not help me because the TD bank systems were down. When I got home, I transferred money from my SOFI account back to the TD bank account to cover the negative balance. I called customer service the next morning, and again got the message that the system was down. I had to keep pressing '0' until I finally got a live person, who informed me that their systems were not down, and someone just forgot to change the automated message!!! I asked her to close the account, but she said she could not do that with a negative balance, and that I'd have to wait until the transfer arrived (4 days later) before I could close it, I will have to call back again in 4 days to close (how 'convenient'!). The short of it is that I lost over $300 dollars to this bank because of their fees. I will never use them for anything again! I suppose I only have myself to blame for continuing to use such a crappy checking account when there are much better options out there,
