MasterCard launches retail solutions to allow a contactless economy

As traders are working to create improved technologies to communicate with customers, today MasterCard unveiled a new range of frictionless options for retailers to recreate their physical shopping experience. MasterCard's Anywhere Shop and AI-Driven Drive-Thru solutions offer low touch, high-engagement experience for merchants and end customers, accessible, adaptable for any shopping environment-from restaurants to pharmacies.

With leading retailers, entertainment, and hospitality partners, including Circle K, Delaware North, Dunkin', and White Castle, MasterCard deploys these newer solutions, in a time when consumers are increasingly looking for tactile and physical interactions. Accorder shopping tends in person to be a success, according to MasterCard's Recovery Insights: Move to Digital, while customers are finding deals that combine the physical and digital to improve the entire process.

Easy Shopping Checkout

The Shop Anywhere app, powered by the Accel Robotics IT partner and AI, helps retailers to develop simple, customized shopping experiences focused on the needs of customers without jeopardizing privacy.

The Shop-anywhere network strengthens shoppers' journey through comprehensive inventories and participant shopper analyses by removing current chokepoints - giving customers no demands, no checkout lines, and safe payments. In addition to exclusive and exclusive items, Shop Anywhere will also provide shops entry beyond regular opening hours if chosen by the store.

Anywhere in the market, such as shopping centers, malls, food, and retail stores, will be used in a number of geographic environments. With multiple retail partners MasterCard will be launching live pilots of Shop Anywhere with a launch of October 2020:

  • In order to conveniently carry snacks and beverages at different locations in the USA and Canada, Circle K will be launching a refraction-less experience on-the-pump and in-store for their customers.

  • The MasterCard system is used by Delaware North, a major hospitality corporation based at sporting and hospitality stadiums, national parks, resort hotels, metropolitan airports, and casinos.

  • At a Dunkin's technology-testing bakery, consumers will be able to visit the shop and receive their coffee and donuts without any physical contact.


A personalized menu drive for you

AI-Driven Drive Through Technology will help fast service brands change driving or communicating through vehicle identification, voice command, and artificial intelligence in collaboration with SoundHound Inc. and Rekor Systems.

Customers may enjoy customized and innovative menu offerings on the basis of historical shopping habits depending on the shop or the individual consumers concerned. The approach also eliminates uncertainty in the purchasing process by eliminating the need for an employee to wait and place an order allowing employees to concentrate on the order process.

Sonic Dry-In built a prototype AI-powered Voice Assistant and Custom Interactive Menu in collaboration with MasterCard. This project builds on MasterCard's contribution to the QSR area. Pilots will launch operations at the White Castle site in October 2020 with the AI-Driven Drive Through system and will also commence operations with other fast-food restaurants later this year.
