Removed my access from my account

I have been with ING Bank for a long time. After many years of being their customer, they expelled my access from my account although I have cash in it. I called them and they told me that they had sent me a notification to check my inbox to provide some verification ID and since I haven’t provided that, they cannot unblock it. How can they expel my access from my account without formally warning me? I sent my ID to them and never heard back, call them back again and they said that they want more explanation and will contact me! If you need to trust a bank with your cash, think twice with this one as they don't have any branch, their only Customer service is via telephone with horrible client service.
